RJ wins “Best Shot That Tells A Story” Honorable Mention Award
“Photowalking is the act of walking with a camera for the main purpose of taking pictures of things that the photographer may find interesting. It is often a communal activity organised by camera clubs, online forums or commercial organisations[1], sometimes in the form of a walking tour. ” – Wikipedia
Last October 1, RJ & I joined the 2011 Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk (the Intramuros Leg). It was definitely an “against-all-odds” type of thing–we were doing the walk inspite of the typhoon that I guess wanted to be a part of the walk too!
For 2011, there were 1117 photo walks organized all over the world, with a total of 27,924 photowalkers. Now the Scott Kelby isn’t JUST a photo walk, it’s also an international photo competition.
All those 27,924 photo walkers gathered in different areas all over the world last October 1 & 2 (the walks happened simultaneously worldwide during those two days). Then they are given the chance to submit one photo entry (per walker), and at first, have it compete against the images taken by the other walkers from their group (all photos should have been taken during those number of hours that the walk was taking place). The walk leaders then choose the image that they think is the best in their own little groups, and then those images are bested against the other “best photos” all over the world. (sounds confusing?)
Scott Kelby then went through all 1117 best photos, and chose the picture that he thought was the best out of all of them. This year, a Filipino from Surigao won the Grand Prize Award, and got very big prizes, plus the recognition of having bested people all over the world. — how cool is that!!
Oh yeah… RJ may not have made it to the 10 finalists spot, but he won Scott Kelby’s recognition as having the “Best Shot That Tells A Story, and made it to the Honorable Mention Awards list.
He may not have won the top prize, but making it to the top list besting 27,900+ other walkers all over the world makes him a winner just the same!
Congratulations RJ, we are mighty proud of you!!!

Why are wedding photography packages… (con’t)
This is a supplement to my entry last night about why wedding photography packages are so expensive…
It was shared to me by my good friend Anna of our partner Eventzilla. Great timing Anna! Had I known there was a video like this, I wouldn’t have made that entry. Haha! Just kidding.
I hope this video would help you understand wedding photography better.
